This day in history.

On this day in 1986, the Challenger space shuttle broke apart 73 seconds into its flight and plunged into the Atlantic Ocean. All seven of the Challenger astronauts, who had blasted off from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center, perished. One of the crew members, Christa McAuliffe, had won a nationwide NASA competition to be the first schoolteacher to go to space.

Volunteer Mary prepping CHT for paint.


Operations Department will be finishing up the Fire Main Trench in the parking lot to the ship this week with paving and hauling away the dirt. Also in the mix is to begin painting the IVA overhead Flat Black. We are also in the middle of installing the Water Heater for the aft heads. Yes, Hot showers are on the horizon! Along with getting up to speed on general maintenance and repairs, next month will be a busy one for Ops! Stan the Man is gearing up to start the Deck work on the Aft Stbd deck.
